In this political season, the issue of trust is everywhere. We are constantly bombarded by the question, “Who can you trust?” I have even heard home designing expert, Cathy Ireland, asking that question about your carpet manufacturer.
This is more than a seasonal issue. Patrick Lencioni, author of The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, says that trust is the number one factor necessary for an effective and thriving team. Without it, there is no foundation for dialogue, conflict or buy in.
What do people trust? They trust what they see. They trust when your actions match your words. They trust when they feel sincerely heard. They trust when they matter.
Relationships are built on trust. And we all know that business, politics and life are about relationships. It is the one thing everyone can agree on!
