We have had two hurricanes
in FL in the last six weeks.
The winds have howled and
the rain has been intense.
These weather events are largely out of our control.
However, as a leader, we create the weather
within our organization.
We can generate stormy conditions or
cloudless, sunny days.
Many leaders operate with
a fear philosophy and intimidate others.
Although this is not sustainable, like a hurricane,
the impact is damaging.
The ripple effect lasts a long time
and travels throughout the organization.
It can take years to clean up.
Conversely, our leadership can generate
hope, encouragement and innovation.
The climate can feel supportive, inclusive and tolerant.
Sunny conditions spark creativity, collaboration and connectivity.
Ask yourself:
- What is the weather I am creating?
- What is the ripple effect and its impact?
- What actions can I take to clean up any damage?
Happy Thanksgiving!
