Tonight and tomorrow night Jews around the world will celebrate Passover and tell the story of the Exodus from Egypt.
Next Sunday, millions of Christians around the world will celebrate Easter and tell the story of Christ’s life, death and resurrection.
Whether you’re Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist or Atheist, all cultures have stories. We pass them down from one generation to the next.
As individuals we have our own stories that we have created. They impact our beliefs, decisions and actions.
Stories are powerful. We remember them long after we have forgotten data and statistics. Stories touch our emotions and create connection to the storyteller or subject matter. Because stories inspire, when you touch the heart you touch the mind. This connection leads to action.
Advertisers, motivational speakers and politicians recognize the power of story.
We also see it over and over when people champion a cause due to either a tragic or inspiring event.
I encourage you to reflect on your stories.
- What role do they play in your life?
- Are they inspiring or holding you back?
- How can you use story to create impact in presentations, your life on others’ lives?
While your stories might not carry the legacy of the ones we are telling this week, they will make an important impact.
