An amazing event happened in Columbus, OH this past weekend. Over 5,000 bicycle riders came together to ride in Pelotonia to raise money to fight cancer. Individuals, corporations and small business owners put their efforts behind the event. Participants raised over 8.6 million dollars.
People trained for months and put signs in their yards and businesses to create awareness. A singular community focus existed.
When people rally around one goal it is amazing what can occur. Alignment, support, planning and passion make all things possible.
The word peloton derives from “platoon” in French and “field, bunch or pack” in English. It is the large main group of riders who ride near or behind others. They are able to save energy and cut drag by 40{160c7819af59c11da6532971d4da6329afa70521e09652cedd42dbad61fa4f29} in this formation.
Like many other goals, Pelotonia, as the name implies, requires individual effort and a team or community to win.
