I heard a thought provoking sermon over the weekend based on the song, Seasons of Love, from the play Rent.
“Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes… how do you measure a year?”
He asks if we measure “in daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee, in inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.”
It is a great reminder to reflect on how you measure a year.
Is it based on your accomplishments, the growth you’ve experienced, the new people you’ve met or the old friends with whom you’ve reconnected? Is it measured by special occasions or in everyday moments shared with loved ones? Or, is it measured by how much you check off on your to do list?
Regardless of your own yardstick, it is a good time to step back and think about how you are spending those five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes.
Those minutes go quickly. Make the one thousand four hundred forty you have today, count.
