Last week I had the ceiling in my living room painted. I moved all the furniture, removed the numerous knick knacks from surfaces and took down the pictures. It looked like I had been robbed.
When I left to go to a meeting the painting process was in full gear. Dust was everywhere; drop cloths covered the sofa and oriental rug; and huge spotlights were illuminating the ceiling like a Playboy centerfold shooting.
My house was in chaos when I left. I was also a bit unnerved myself. When I returned several hours later, everything was back in place. The ceiling looked great too.
Often chaos must occur before order can be restored. It can cause stress and upset. With the proper people on the team we can ease some of the anxiety.
However, we often forget that there is a process for things. We must go through the mess before calm reappears. We don’t usually go straight from A to Z. We must visit L, M, N, O and P in between.
