The Ohio State University’s football team was ranked #4 in the country and was selected to go to The Sugar Bowl to play in the playoff game for the national college championship.
They were competing against two other teams with a similar win/loss record for the coveted 4th spot.
This was a huge accomplishment since their first and second string quarterbacks were injured. Saturday’s game was the first that the third string quarterback played all season. In addition, one of their team members died mid-week.
The entire team rallied and was able to compensate for the unanticipated situations that arose last week.
“They were a total team… and overcame losing two quarterbacks,” said Jeff Long, selection committee chair. “It was about their performance on the field that moved them up and not about (the other teams).”
When we have strong people in various roles, they can support changing dynamics. We are not undone with the loss of one or two team members.
In addition, when we focus on what is in our control and what we do best, we excel. By not allowing outside circumstances or competition to derail us, we perform at our highest level.
Having a total team that focuses on their game without distractions creates winning results, regardless of the arena in which you play.
