It’s summer and for many of us that means vacations. For 61{160c7819af59c11da6532971d4da6329afa70521e09652cedd42dbad61fa4f29} of us, we will still work during our time off according to Time magazine (6-1-15). We will text, email, make calls and access work documents.
However, many of us are not using our vacation time. American workers left an average of 3.2 days per month on the table.
Studies show that employees work best when they have planned time off. In addition to being more relaxed, we are more creative, productive and focused. We gain a fresh perspective when we disconnect. We are also less likely to suffer from burnout.
The root of the recreation is recreate. It is no coincidence that time away allows us to do so. What will you re-create in yourself, your organization or your relationships when you have time to reflect?
Whether you vacation or staycation, give yourself the luxury of downtime and space. For many of us, it will be an adventure to a new place!
