“Scarcity brings clarity,” I heard Marissa Mayer, VP at Google, say in an interview last week. These three words are so true today.
In these economic times many people feel that resources, including time, dollars and people, are shrinking. The opportunity in scarcity is that it helps us to prioritize since we have a finite amount of whatever it is. We cannot do everything.
By knowing what is most important we can eliminate excess and waste. It might become easier to say no, to set boundaries or to take action toward our goals.
During the holidays, scarcity can help us to be clear on what is truly important. How do we want to spend our time, energy and dollars? And with whom?
Do not let scarcity make you fearful. Use it to make you focused. On that I’m clear!
