As we remembered the 10th anniversary of 9/11 yesterday there were many tributes to the heroes of that day. Fire fighters, police officers and ordinary citizens acted with amazing courage.

What strikes me is the resilience that people have shown since that day. Over the past decade many have gone on to build new lives. They have dealt with sadness, pain and loss. They have also felt joy, happiness and renewal.

We have all experienced illnesses, death, loss of dreams and fear of an uncertain future.

The courage of those who are still here can inspire us to keep hope and the power of intentional living alive.

As we honor those who are no longer with us and the “heroes” of the day, let us also pay tribute to the ordinary people who are continuing to live their daily lives with courage and resilience.
