A Lesson from Muhammad AliAs the tributes poured in this past weekendwith Muhammad Ali’s passing,I was reminded of this quote by the champ. It inspired me to think of change and courage.

“Impossible is just a big wordthrown around by small menwho find it easier to live in the worldthey’ve been giventhan to explore the power they haveto change it.”

Margaret Mead said,“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizenscan change the world;indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Mahatma Ghandi said,“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

These are lofty quotes by inspiring men and womenwho indeed changed the world. How can we relate to these bodacious dreams? The challenge for us is not to develop a big vision, the challenge is that accountability lies with us.

We are the ones who can changeour corner of the world.Whether it is our community, our family, our team at work or our own health and well-being,we must act.

That means getting our tennis shoes onto go to the gym, showing up undistracted and being presentfor conversations with our loved ones orhaving the courage to present a different point of viewin the meeting.

When we start to change ourselves, we change the world. What do you want to start?
