As Valentine’s Day approaches we think of hearts. I recently read a passage by Dr. David Hartman in A Heart of Many Rooms that says, “Make yourself a heart of many rooms.”
His message was to become a person in whom different perspectives can reside together. He encouraged becoming a person who can live with ambiguity, feeling conviction and passion without the need for simplicity and absolute certainty.
By becoming a heart with many rooms we are able to consider different opinions. We have the capacity to navigate various views and appreciate both.
Great leaders feel conviction and passion and yet, are able to hold ambiguous thoughts simultaneously.
So this Valentine’s Day, try creating more rooms in your heart. See how it expands your capacity to love.
