We recently celebrated Independence Day. As I visited Ellis Island over the weekend, the concepts of freedom and liberty spoke loudly.
People came to America seeking independence from religious and economic persecution. They showed courage and strength.
We all have the ability to declare independence from things that inhibit our “pursuit of happiness.” We can make choices that support our values, goals and dreams.
These choices can sometimes have a cost. Just as the new immigrants had to let go of security and a world they knew, we have to do the same when we embark on new adventures.
Stepping into the unknown in pursuit of a better life can be scary. It also can be extremely rewarding and provide opportunities beyond our imagination.
