Recently I learned a new word. It is enantiodromia. It does not follow the usual rule of learning a new word and then seeing it everywhere.
It means that if you stand in an element or experience for too long, it has the propensity to go to its opposite.
For example, if you are grieving too long, things will shift to joy or happiness. If you stand in joy too long, it will change to sadness.
Like the seasons, we do not stay in one place too long. This can be good or bad news! By accepting and appreciating where we are and standing fully in the experience, we are present.
And by definition, this place will change. Non-attachment and flexibility can support us. M. Scott Peck says it is one of the stages to team development. We must let go in order to create something new.
So whether you are feeling like the pigeon or the statue, know that you will not be in that place forever.
