A sign in Nordstrom’s window the day before Thanksgiving said that they would be decorating their windows on Friday for the holiday season. The company believes in celebrating one holiday at a time.
What if the rest of the country felt this way? We would not be seeing Halloween decorations in August or hearing round the clock Christmas carols in October as one local radio station plays.
Nordstrom’s philosophy is a strong statement of corporate values. In addition, it provides a lesson we can all follow in this busy time of year.
Be present. Celebrate one event at a time. As we rush around in this overscheduled season, do not lump all the activities together or rush to check them off the list.
By focusing on one moment at a time or doing less, you will truly enjoy the spirit of the season.
