I was riding around last week
and saw houses decorated for Halloween.
There were ghosts, monsters, mechanical vampires
who were shouting scary noises and lots of skeletons.
Halloween is a time when we intentionally
try to scare and create fear.
But what about the other 364 days of the year?
Many of us create fear
and frighten ourselves on a daily basis.
We hear gremlin voices telling us
we aren’t good enough or we might fail.
We listen to ghost voices from people or experiences
of our past that stifle us.
These monster voices can loom so large
that they feel like the big inflatable
balloons we see on front yards.
However, these balloons fall down
when the air comes out
or the wind blows them over.
Similarly, we can deflate them
so they aren’t so scary.
By stepping back and recognizing
that they are gremlins and ghosts-
not our true selves, we can find our own power.
- What do your gremlins say to you?
- What/Whose ghost voices do you frequently hear?
- What can you do to deflate them?
Happy Halloween!
