Sunday I went zip lining and was reminded of a great lesson about facing our fears.
Two people in our group were doing it for the first time. One was a young girl who was so scared that her family said she was almost sick in the morning. The other person was a middle age mother whose daughter had given her this experience as a Mother’s Day gift that they could share and check off the bucket list. She, too, was equally fearful.
We all have fears. The anxiety prior to a situation can be so much worse than the actual event. Both the fear and anxiety can cause us to stop, pull back or not move forward.
Overcoming these barriers takes positive self-talk, a desire for what is on the other side and a supportive group of yes sayers.
Everyone in our group knew the situations of our young girl and mother. We cheered them on each time they took off from the platform, while they were zipping and when they came in for the landing.
The team support helped to enCOURAGE and inspire. Incorporating both your individual and team spirit will help you zip through your fears and challenges.
