As you know, I have recently moved. Boxes have been piled up in every room. At times, it has seemed overwhelming and that I will never see the floor. (Many of you may feel like this about your desk.)
Over the weekend I made a lot of progress. Before beginning, I broke the project into small, manageable parts and set a goal to focus on one section at a time. Dishes were put away, lamps were assembled and boxes were taken to Goodwill. I could see the floor!
To continue the momentum, I have identified which areas to unpack next and set up targets for their completion.
By breaking this project into bite size, identifiable goals, I am moving forward. It can seem overwhelming when looking at the entire scope. By focusing on one part at a time, the work is manageable and I feel successful when it is completed.
Yes, there is more to be done (and there most always will be). I recognize that and know I will get to those rooms. I do not feel overwhelmed because I have built it into the plan.
Whether it is preparing for the holidays, organizing a project at work or training for a fitness goal, taking it one step at a time and rewarding yourself for the accomplishment will allow you to keep making progress.
Remember, “inch by inch, life’s a cinch.”
