How are you? When I ask this question, the most common responses are “fine” or “busy.”
Many of us fall into the busy category. Work is busy, we are busy, our kids are busy and we are overwhelmed. Some of us feel more important when we are busy. Busy ≠ satisfaction.
A friend told me about a phrase she learned recently at a conference to substitute for “busy.” She now says she is “richly scheduled.”
Words are powerful and impact our mindset. I feel less hectic, less reactive and in control describing life this way. I feel active and at choice, almost blessed for my rich calendar.
Experiment the next time someone asks how you are. What do you notice when you are “richly scheduled” instead of “busy?”
