Last week was tax day. While some of us got refunds, many of us owed the IRS money.
The reality is that we often pay a daily tax in our relationships for which we are unaware.
Stephen M.R. Covey, author of The Speed of Trust, says that the lack of trust can be a tax. When absent, it costs additional time and money. It takes longer to get things done and frequently results in additional expenditures due to the added delay or the need to involve others whom we do trust.
So while we cannot avoid taxes on April 15th, we can reduce our daily tax burden. Building trust through competence, character and cooperation can alleviate this unnecessary tax on time and treasure.
