As St. Patrick’s Day approaches we think of shamrocks, leprechauns and the luck of the Irish.
Luck can be an important dynamic in our lives. In golf we say, “I’d rather be lucky than good.” In business we often say, “I was lucky,” when we land a deal or when we talk about our career.
It is possible for us to make our own luck. Webster’s dictionary defines luck as “the seemingly chance happening of events which affect one.” However, when opportunity, timing and preparation meet, luck is more likely to occur. Less is left to chance.
By being proactive, planning, taking on new challenges, meeting new people and putting ourselves in new circumstances, more opportunities for luck are possible.
While luck, by its definition, is something that just happens, we can influence its ability to show up more frequently in our lives. It will be easier to find than a four leaf clover.
