In his book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, author, Steve Harvey, describes 3 P’s to tell if a man loves you. All three must be present he says.
- Praise: He speaks highly of you to others and gives you a title like his “lady”,” sweetheart,” or _____.
- Provide: He seeks to provide for you in many ways, especially financially.
- Protect: He wants to take care of you and do things for you Ex: open car door, empty trash, defend you if you are in a dangerous situation.
The 3 P theory can be applied to work. We want employees to praise our organization. We want them to speak highly about us to others.
In order for a company to sustain, it must be profitable. We want employees to do what it takes to be responsible and make decisions in the interest of our financial well being.
Having employees who support our vision, values and reputation is essential. We want employees who will protect these and take actions that contribute to our organization and its well being.
These 3 P’s can also apply to how the organization treats its employees. An organization should speak well of its employees or volunteers, provide for them and also look out for their well being.
We can show how much love exists in an organization by noticing the presence of praising, providing and protecting.
